About Western USA Trek
The American West is full of incredible places, and Western USA Trek brings some of its best adventures together in one unforgettable summer. Picture hiking between the towering canyon walls of Zion National Park, standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon, learning to surf along California's Pacific beaches, and walking among giant sequoias and ancient redwoods. With three weeks to explore, teens will experience everything from the desert landscapes of Arizona and Utah to the coastal cities and natural wonders of California.
There's plenty of excitement beyond the hiking trails, too. Take an off-road Jeep adventure through Sedona, spend a day at Disneyland, visit the famous San Diego Zoo, and experience the sights and culture of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Along the way, put Jewish values into action through hands-on community service, celebrate Shabbat in different settings, and build lasting friendships with fellow Jewish teens. Western USA Trek is an opportunity to challenge yourself, try something new, and discover just how much there is to experience across the American West.
Is it Right for Me?
Western USA Trek is designed for teens who love being outdoors, trying new activities, and exploring new places. While the itinerary includes hiking in national parks and other outdoor adventures, you don't need to be an experienced hiker to participate. Activities are planned with different abilities and comfort levels in mind, and the trip combines active experiences with sightseeing, beach time, and opportunities to relax. With comfortable accommodations and private transportation between destinations, you'll have the support of your group and BBYO staff throughout the journey.
Trip Overview
We're excited to provide the following trip overview to give you a better sense of this experience. The actual program will vary, and a confirmed itinerary will be distributed to registered families no later than two weeks before the program begins. Even after the confirmed itinerary is sent, adjustments may still be made—both leading up to and during the program—based on local conditions.
Group Travel
Travel with confidence knowing that BBYO organizes supervised group flights to and from our destinations. Our staff are present at departure airports to greet teens and help them feel welcome right away, and they accompany each group throughout the journey—both on arrival and on the return trip home.
