Live from the International Order… It's BBYO!

Recently, the hit show Dancing With The Stars has broken records on and off the ballroom floor. During the current season, Season 35, the show has broken voting sights and social media with its popularity. Not only has it grown popular from social media growth, but the word that it is spreading. There are currently six Jews fighting for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

Let’s be real: dance has always been built into the culture. Whether you’re going all-out in a Hora circle at a Mitzvah, hyped up at IC, or dancing at a BBYO Summer or Convention Havdalah, moving together is just what we do.

Seeing that same energy translated onto a massive national stage isn't just fun to watch; it feels like a major win. Seeing people who share our culture show up, show out, and dominate prime-time TV gives all of us something to hype up together.

When pop culture features people who look like us and share our background, it brings the whole community together. Voting for your favorite every week isn't just about the dance moves, it’s about encouraging the community and cheering on people who inspire us.

As Season 35 keeps breaking records, one thing is for sure: the energy in the ballroom is matching the energy in The International Order. No matter who takes home the Mirrorball, this season is already one for the books. This is the time to use the joy that we see around us and turn it into the light that keeps our community going with all of the darkness in the world.

Be the mirrorball in your community and spread your light in every direction. While it may seem hard, we radiate so much positivity in every room we walk into. Every person in BBYO is a mirrorball whether they know it or not. Keep your BBYO journey going and your mirrorball light shines on to more and more people. Go on BBYO Summer, attend IC, run for leadership - each of these are small ways our lights shine brighter. When we do it as an order, our light shines brighter together.
